For me, reading is like medicine, if not more like hallucinogenic drugs. My life can get monotonous. People can be such party pooper. But all is well once I get to my books. It may not be an overstatement to say that I am an addict as well as one huge dreamer. I am addicted to reading books. I am addicted to collecting books. And I have always been dreaming to have my own library one day.
However, as many like me have realized, it is not easy to realize such a grand dream (grand for me, at least). So, on my way to reaching that dream, I work on collecting as many books as my earnings and monthly budget allow me to. In this journey of mine, I find that I have grown more and more obsessed with beautiful, innovative, and funky bookshelves. Obsessed is not an overstatement as well. I do show a slight hint of OCD.
So what do I do? Well, I do what I could. I keep browsing and surrounding myself with pictures of bookshelves I think great. But I have not found that one bookshelf that captures me and does not let me. That is until I found this Branch by an Olivier Dollé, a French designer. Branch is made out of veneered oak wire and more than eighty pieces of birch plywood and made in two sizes. You (and I) can have it in other types of plywood upon request.
Here are the reasons why I find this bookshelf the one: It is poetic (imagine strangely shaped branch in your room). It is aesthetic and sculptural (you do see it, do you not?). It is functional (duh, it is a bookshelf despite the wild branches). Why would anyone want another standard bookshelf if they can have the one that complements, however, your room looks? Check out the photos below and, believe me, you will get the idea.
