Corrina M. Michaud House December 26th 2018, 12:09:51
Sick of the artificial living place in the city? In desperate need of some greens? But you can never leave life with all the modernity it has to offer? This architect firm had made just the house you need. The DeForest Architects with a studio based in Seattle built a two-level contemporary mountain retreat on the northern side of Lake Wenatchee, Washington State, USA. The residential building takes up a lot that overlooks the beautiful lake.
According to the architect team, the house at the Lake Wenatchee is all about combining the artificial and the natural. The architectural design aims for sophisticated yet cozy and modern yet rustic. The design was a means to bridge the two coexisting worlds with very natural ease. The homeowners had spent so many seasons at the Lake Wenatchee area in the Cascade Mountains until they finally found this perfect lot to build their dream house after so long.
The owners came to DeForest asking for a residential building that blends seamlessly with surroundings and they would like to see through the overall process. The seamless blending was reached by the use of natural materials such as wood and stone with tile and composite combination. More qualities unique to this house are the secret room and the sleeping porch as well as built-in alcoves. This is the house for two and a “cabin” for a crowd.
The house was built to tend for all American seasons by using low maintenance material, indoor-outdoor spaces, and overhangs that will shed snow and shade the summer sun. This must be the fun house as well as the spaces are created to allow a range of families and friends to stay or just hang out. Check out the photos below to see the Lake Wenatchee house that combines the rustic and the sophisticated so effortlessly.
