Costa Rica was facing a problem regarding low-cost housing in recent years. The low economic capacity of the people making the purchasing power of appropriate housing is very low. In fact, housing is a primary need for every human being. Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture gives attention to this issue and thinks hard about a solution proposal. They want to present a home that is not only habitable but also has the aesthetic at an affordable price.
Gabriela Calvo and Marco Peralta were originally just thought of a comfortable dwelling that they can buy. But then the idea of utilizing shipping containers that are not used, they are then to be creative to turn it into a comfortable dwelling. Basically the order of container ships has been very strong, but the lack of air flow as well as limited space becomes a problem. By using a pair of containers, they merge them to be construction of a livable house with two bedrooms.
The project was later given the name “Container of Hope”. They hope the container at a cost of approximately $ 40,000 is accessible by all residents. Their designs were already adapted to the tropical climate conditions good air flow and almost no need water conditioner. For the windows and partitions can be adjusted to the direction toward the house to the sun. In addition to answering the needs of low-cost housing, the project is expected to utilize the unused container ship in the harbor along Costa Rica.
